Abstract

Since there often occurs batch-wise or time-varying uncertainties in industrial batch processes, it has been an important research direction in the recent years to develop iterative learning control (ILC) and on-line optimization methods that can hold robust stability for closed-loop control systems. In this talk, the research progress on robust ILC methods in terms of closed-loop control systems will be introduced based the authors¡¯ research results recently explored. Specifically, the direct-type and indirect-type ILC methods will be reviewed with respect to the main design approaches and technical routes, while the pros and cons of these methods are compared through the applications to a few industrial processes and simulation examples. Finally, some problems and challenges associated with robust closed-loop ILC design are pointed out, hoping for more attentions by scholars and engineers in the field of control engineering.
